Jon Kidd is part of ink gallery collections, Jon Kidd previously exhibited at our Primer Open call a showcase of international and UK based painters.
Jon Kidd is a painter and photographer, originally from the Peak District. For twenty years, he concealed severe bouts of depression, rage, night terrors, sleep paralysis, crippling anxiety, tremors in my hands and perhaps most frightening, vivid hallucinations, that manifest themselves as black figures, animals, objects, shapes, and orbs of light. In 2015, he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, severe depression with anxiety and essential tremor.
During my recovery Kidd moved to Colwyn Bay, where I work as a Funeral Service Operative. Painting every day is their therapy. Now that he has discovered the joys of painting every day, he has found a new freedom, enabling them to paint what a camera can't see. Their studies may have finished but he continues to churn out work every day, which include photographs and paintings, that explore isolation, loneliness, barriers, and emotions along with the demons that hide mockingly in the background waiting to torment me once more.
Jon's landscape paintings are his therapy, created from memory, painted alla prima using oils, often listening to loud and fast music through headphones. His landscapes are formed from an almagation of locations around the Peak District and Wales.
In 2016, they studied FdA Photography followed by BA (Hons) Photography, gaining 1st class honours, and PG Dip Fine Art.
